Professional male modern boxing: An analysis of activity profile by category

The purpose of this study is to examine modern professional male boxing by analyzing world champions differences between winners and losers categories. 322 boxers (age 28.95 ± 4.10, height 175.26 9.44 cm, weight 147.82 31.31 lb) were included in observational descriptive analysis, through 320 fights separated divisions [Heavy (H) (n = 24), Cruiser (C) 48), Light Heavy (LH) 62), Super Middle Weight (SMW) 17), (MW) 68), (LMW) 42), Welter (WW) 49), (LWW) 28), (LW) 33), Feather (SFW) 63), (FW) 66), Bantam (SBW) (BW) 30), Fly (SFLW) 39), Flyweight (F) 29)]. Differences found (U 57804 - 90908.5; p <.001; d 0.129 0.776) for all the variables analyzed. Four significant correlations highlighted: %PL (Percentage Punches Landed) (rho .630); AVG PLxR (Punches Landed Per Round) .594); PPLxR (Power .517); %PPL Power .672) also observed categories (H 32.29 93.11; <.001 .004), except %PL, JLxR, %JL Jabs %PPL. This data suggests that order win these events, fighters must deliver precise punches, especially power there are with type punch (AVG PPLxR).
